The earthquake that struck the Dharamshala-Kangra area in Himachal Pradesh on April 4th, 1905 is among the deadliest earthquakes in the history of India. According to the then provincial government of Punjab, 19,727 people were killed. Many of the fatalities were from Dharamshala, Kangra and neighbouring towns and villages.
